     Jennifer's Story

I grew up in a small town in west central Wisconsin.  When I graduated I didn't want to keep going to school because I hated it.  I didn't want to get a real job because I had no idea what I wanted to do when I grew up.  So I opted to join the Army for four years.  I went through almost 2 years of training in three different schools only to be sent to a duty station that no longer utilized my specialty.  Despite promises to get me transferred to the proper base, circumstances dictated otherwise and I remained for the next just over two years with my specialized training being dormant and having to "adapt and overcome" and go through on-the-job training for other job duties.

After I got out of the military I continued to drift through a variety of FT and PT jobs in non-profit, retail, corporate and local government.  I stayed in the local government job for almost ten years.  I stayed that long only because it paid the bills and I vowed it would be the last job I ever held.  After that I wanted to be working on my own from home.

For several years I knew working at home was what I wanted to do.  I just didn't know what I wanted to do.  I didn't know what I had to offer that people would want or why they would listen to me.   My family and friends for the most part had the employee mindset and were more concerned about pay and benefits, thus I got mostly token encouragement from them.  I didn't feel like I had any allies.  I felt as if I was on a long lonely road with only a glimmer of a dream and no map or compass.

I spent thousands of dollars on coaching programs that probably would have helped had I known at the time what I wanted to do.  Some pointers were given to me by a couple of the coaches and other respected people.  Some ideas just fell flat and others rang a bell but I just couldn't see a way to make it work.  I felt frustrated and wished I could just give up.  However I am half German and a Taurus and I wasn't dead yet - only battered and bruised financially, in health and in ego.  So I kept trudging along day after day after day.

Eventually I stumbled onto life coaching and went to a training course held in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area by the Coaches Training Institute (CTI).  I loved the idea of life coaching but once again was faced with the problem of not knowing where to go from there.  I was still plagued by not feeling like I had anything I was an expert at to help people with.  I hadn't really solved any of the problems I was working on for myself, which were health (usually ranging from 40 to 50 pounds overweight), financial (thousands of dollars of debt) and relationship issues (with myself and others).  I felt only marginally closer to my goal of a successful home-based business.  I was still stuck in the muck and mire of how to make it work.  There were several days when I just wanted to scream with frustration.  There were many nights I cried from it.

My desire pushed me to continue on and I received coaching and mentoring through a number of coaches and mentors.  My contacts with these people taught me the importance of having the right people as personal coaches and mentors within a support network.  My personal coaches and mentors have taught me that the success I achieve in my life is about the steps I take, mostly the daily small ones.  Leaps of faith are great when the timing is right.  However it is the daily small steps that keep the momentum going and get me where I need to go.   My personal coaches and mentors also helped me see things about myself that I had written off or paid zero attention to.  I mean after all, if I really had nothing worth sharing of value, then why were people continually coming to me for my knowledge or opinions?  My coaches and mentors also taught me how to be honest with myself and put my ideas and thoughts in proper perspective, thus empowering me to have the mustard seed of confidence to take those daily tiny steps that are ensuring my success.

Having a personal coach and/or mentor that you can talk with, brainstorm with, bounce ideas and theories off of, learn from, lean on a bit and who will keep you accountable is one of the keys to making your success happen.  I will greatly enjoy sharing what I've learned with you as well as helping you solve problems and overcome obstacles in achieving your goals through an appropriate coaching or mentoring program.  Escape mediocrity.  Life the life you dream of and deserve.  Let's get you there together.  Email me today to set up a personal consultation.
